With over twenty years of experience in school settings and more than six years in an outpatient treatment facility, Dr. Ackerman bring a unique perspective to her work as a therapist. Children she works with may have a diagnosis of ADHD, high functioning autism, anxiety, learning disorders, and behavioral difficulties. Her treatment approach with children includes cognitive-behavioral methods, play therapy, joint parent-child sessions and school consultation. Her approach to adult treatment focuses on establishing a trusting, warm, relationship where client concerns can be expressed and addressed in a comfortable, non-judgmental atmosphere.
